Alex Bagne (2008)
Alex Bagne began his Maryvale varsity wrestling career as a freshman in 2005. Little did anyone know at the time, but this would be the beginning of one of the most successful and decorated careers in Maryvale wrestling history.
As a four-year starter throughout his high school career, Bagne finished with a 131-41 record, including an incredible 38-1 record in dual meets. Upon graduation, Alex had one of the highest win totals in school history. As impressive as his individual success was, Bagne excelled as a team leader being named team captain in his junior and senior seasons. Alex was also a three-year starter on the varsity golf team from 2006 through 2008.
During Alex’s high school wrestling career, he dominated in three different weight classes (96lb, 112lb and 119lb). Bagne was a two-time team MVP, three-time Class AAA Champion from 2006-2008, an ECIC Champion in 2006 and three-time Sectional Finalist from 2006-2008 and represented Maryvale in 2007 and 2008 at the New York State Championship Tournament. Additionally, Alex won 9 different tournaments throughout his career including the Maryvale Tournament, Franklinville Tournament, Erie County Championships and Lew-Port Tournament. Bagne was also the first wrestler in school history to win the NFWOA Tournament at Niagara County Community College. Alex was a finalist in 14 other tournaments throughout his career and placed in every tournament he ever entered.
Alex also experienced wrestling achievements outside of his Maryvale team. Bagne placed three times in the New York State Freestyle and Greco-Roman Championships and placed 5threpresenting the Western Region in the 2006 Empire State Games. Upon graduating from Maryvale, Alex continued his education and wrestling career at Niagara County Community College. While at NCCC, Bagne won the NCCC Open.
After NCCC, Alex completed his course work from Rock Valley College School of Aviation Technology where he graduated with honors. Alex currently resides in Chicago, Illinois with his beautiful wife Rachel and their two wonderful children, Carter and Julian. Alex works as a European Maintenance Control Manager for Gogo Air and dedicates his time to his local Religious Center and the Buffalo non-profit group, The Ham Sub Club.
