Alex Raczynski (2020)

  

Alex is a graduate of Maryvale’s Class of 2020. He began his soccer journey in seventh grade with modified soccer, progressing to Junior Varsity in eighth and ninth grades, and ultimately to Varsity during his sophomore, junior and senior years. Throughout all six seasons, Alex served as the starting offensive midfielder and Co-captain in his junior and senior years.


During his time on Varsity, Alex helped lead the team to multiple successful seasons, culminating in a run to a Sectional semi-final in 2018 and a Sectional final in 2019. His Varsity career was marked by notable achievements, including the breaking of two school records in 2019; the first record for the most assists in a single season totaling 20, followed by the record for the most points in a season, with an impressive 74 points.


Throughout his career, Alex earned multiple accolades, including ECIC Division III 2nd Team All-Star in 2017 and 1st Team All-Star honors in 2018 and 2019. His accomplishments also included being named to the All-WNY 1st Team – Large School in 2018. Alex’s biggest accolades came in in 2019, where he was honored with a 2nd Team Small School All-State designation. He also received an All-WNY 1st Team award. He was then named the  Division III MVP  and made the All- Bee 1st Team All-Star honors. Additionally, Alex was recognized as a WNY Buffalo News Scholar-Athlete, the Maryvale Athlete of the Week, and a member of the Williamsville South All-Tournament Team. Alex was also awarded the title of MVP for his Flyers Varsity team in both 2018 and 2019. He was nominated for MVP of WNY and Buffalo News Athlete of the Week in 2019. In his senior year, he achieved an impressive tally of 27 goals and 20 assists, ranking him tied for second in WNY for goals scored with 27. Furthermore, he was honored as a recipient of the Maryvale Wall of Fame Scholarship in 2020 prior to his graduation. 


In addition to his high school achievements, Alex played Premier Soccer for Global Premier Soccer (GPS) and Empire Soccer from U8 to U18 and was a member of the GPS Regional team based out of Boston, MA. His talents were recognized by US Soccer, which marked him as an up-and-coming player. Throughout his career, he also participated in the Olympic Development program for US Soccer. Notably, Alex was invited to partake in an exclusive practice session with two coaches from the FC Bayern Munich in Boston, MA and to a six-week training session with the New England Revolution.


Alex began his collegiate soccer career at Medaille College for the 2020 season; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the season was subsequently canceled. Following that year, he transferred to The State University of New York College at Geneseo, where he continued his academic pursuits. In December 2024, Alex graduated from Geneseo with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration and Management. He currently resides in Cheektowaga.
