As the regional representative for the New York State commissioner of education, Lynn facilitates communications between the New York State Education Department and local districts, as well as other public and private agencies. In addition, the organization she leads hosts one of the state's 12 Regional Information Centers, which provides technology solutions to more than 100 school districts across seven counties.
Lynn Fusco is a class of 1975 graduate of Maryvale High School. While in high school she was involved in several clubs and activities and was most interested in music and drama. She was involved in school plays for her four years and was a member of Musicale and Chorale.
Lynn attended Buffalo State College for Elementary and Special Education. Following graduation, she began her career teaching at Aspire, formerly known as United Cerebral Palsy of Western New York. While working, Lynn again attended Buffalo State College for her Master’s Degree in Special Education with a concentration with students with severe disabilities.
Following the completion of her graduate studies program, Lynn was invited to be an adjunct instructor in the Exceptional Education department while continuing to work as a teacher. It was then that she met and married Richard Fusco, a 1974 graduate of Maryvale High School. In 1993 Lynn received her Ph.D. in Learning and Instruction with a minor in Educational Administration from the University of Buffalo.
After several years teaching at both the district and college levels, Lynn began her career in educational administration. Her first post was as the Intermediate Principal at Pembroke Central Schools followed by the position of Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Personnel for the East Aurora Union Free School District. While raising her two daughters, after her husband Rich passed away, she was hired as the Superintendent of Schools for Alden Central School where she and her daughters lived and attended school. Lynn had the unique privilege of handing both her daughters their diploma as they graduated from high school.
After serving eight years as the Superintendent of Schools in Alden, Lynn was appointed as the Superintendent of the Niagara-Wheatfield Central School District in Niagara county. She served in that position for two years before joining Erie 1 BOCES.
Lynn is proud to be an educator and honored to have served the students and families of the communities in which she has worked.
